Farnborough College of Technology is part of Hampshire Business School. It is a medium sized, mixed economy further and higher education college, based in North East Hampshire on the borders of Surrey and Berkshire.

History

Farnborough College was founded in 1957 as a training wing of the former Royal Aircraft Establishment (RAE) and it continues to have strong links with the aviation industry. Farnborough is also home to the world-famous air show which is held every two years.

The college also holds full Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) status for three areas of excellence:

  • applied ICT for business
  • skill air which encompasses aeronautical and aerospace engineering
  • business, accounting and financial services

Role in the NSAFS

In December 2007, Farnborough College of Technology was selected to be the lead training provider for the South East region of the National Skills Academy for Financial Services (NSAFS).

As part of the NSAFS, Farnborough College works with local employers in order to understand the industry’s needs as well as to provide training and development for their employees.

In 2006/2007 300 employers sponsored learners on professional programmes in accounting and financial services, management, marketing and human resources management.
