Tower Hamlets College
General information
Tower Hamlets College provides learning to approximately 5,000 adult students, as well as being a thriving and dynamic sixth form college.
Its close links to the City and Canary Wharf creates unique opportunities for those who want to go straight into work having completed their studies.
Students come mainly from East London and span a wide range of ethnicities and educational backgrounds.
Learners are also offered employment skills courses at the National Skills Academy for Financial Services (NSAFS) alongside financial courses to prepare them for the workplace.
History
In February 2008, Tower Hamlets College and the NSAFS launched a dedicated, state-of-the-art building with the help of London Thames Gateway Corporation who generously contributed to the regeneration of the site.
Role in the NSAFS
Tower Hamlets College is the flagship centre in London for the NSAFS. The NSAFS is based on East India Dock Road in Tower Hamlets. We support employers in the City, Canary Wharf, Docklands and East London with a range of demand-led services to meet their training and recruitment needs.
The NSAFS has a great rapport with many of the businesses in the Docklands area and has arranged work experience for many of our students.
Industry employers lead on the strategic development of the NSAFS and help design a curriculum for young people and adults that provides the skills, qualifications and experiences they need to drive their business operations.
