General information
Orpington College has been offering courses for more than 30 years. The college currently provides learning to 6,000 learners studying for GCSE or basic skills qualifications through to degree level.
Orpington College trains business people and organisations who want to improve the effectiveness of their workforce for school leavers, professionals and adults returning to study.
The college operates in a thriving and diverse community drawing learners from neighbouring boroughs such as Bexley, Lewisham and Greenwich.
History
Orpington College has an excellent track record of delivering a wide range of qualifications to employers as it is able to work flexibly to meet the diverse needs of the businesses that surround them.
The college has also been awarded Centre of Vocational Excellence (COVE) status in financial services with many students also accessing work through placements and internships in the sector.
Role in the NSAFS
Orpington College became a training provider for the National Skills Academy for Financial Services (NSAFS) in March 2008. The college is currently preparing itself for the opening of a £26 million building in Spring 2010.
The eco-friendly design and fresh modern interior will house the NSAFS activities, further enhancing the quality of teaching and learning that already exists.
With a wealth of financial services organisations surrounding the college, particularly insurance brokers and retail banks, Orpington College has been highly successful in delivering Advanced Apprenticeships with over 200 employees having gone through programmes last year. This makes Orpington College one of the leading providers of financial Apprenticeships in the country.
