As the largest training provider in the South West, City of Bristol College is well placed to serve the needs of financial services employers with sites across the city of Bristol.

After a recent £6 million modernisation, the Soundwell Centre in particular offers state-of-the-art facilities, including purpose-built classrooms, workshops and impressive learning resource centres.

History

City of Bristol College has been operating for more than 10 years, following several mergers of Bristol colleges. Students for financial services courses come from the large industry base that is situated in Bristol including banks, insurance companies, building societies and brokers.

The college is one of only four colleges in the South West to be awarded the new Training Quality Standard in May 2008.
City of Bristol College has also gained Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) status in three areas including management. It has also:

  • been awarded a Learning and Skills Beacon Award
  • become a member of the 157 group of leading colleges
  • been awarded Grade 1 for leadership and management in an Ofsted inspection

Role in the NSAFS

After joining the network in 2007, City of Bristol College is the lead training provider for the National Skills Academy for Financial Services (NSAFS) in the South West.

Courses aimed at the financial services sector can be delivered in company offices or at college sites.

City of Bristol College is building on its years of experience by working with many local employers in the financial services sector. It is currently:

  • working to help improve the skills of new recruits and aid staff development
  • providing management training
  • working with the NSAFS Employer Board to understand employers’ training needs and issues
  • assessing what is affecting the industry country wide so it can further improve its provision for the financial services employers

City of Bristol College works with many companies in the financial services sector to help them improve their business through staff training. Examples include:
