Opportunities with the NSAFS
South West
Financial services businesses in the South West region are primarily concentrated in:
- Bristol
- Bournemouth
- Swindon
- South Dorset
- Gloucestershire
The sector provides 3.6 per cent of regional employment and produces 6 per cent of all financial services output in the UK. 9 out of 10 jobs in financial services in the South West are accounted for by three sub-sectors – Banks and Building Societies, Insurance and Auxiliary Activities (typically back office functions, brokers and consultants).
The National Skills Academy for Financial Services’ (NSAFS) Regional Employer Board, helps to lead the regional agenda which includes key employer representatives from:
- Unum
- Exeter Friendly Society
- Zurich
- Ashlea Financial Planning
- Lloyds Banking Group
- United Financial Services
- Friends Provident
- Jelf Group
- Nationwide Building Society
- DAS Legal Insurance.
The NSAFS in the South West is also actively engaged with the regional branch of the Learning and Skills Council, the South West Regional Development Agency and other major partners. In this way, the NSAFS ensures that it is always working in response to the industry both regionally and nationally.
Reflecting the clustering patterns of financial services businesses in the region, the lead training provider for the South West is City of Bristol College.
It is further supported by NSAFS training providers
Looking to the future, City of Bristol College is planning a dedicated centre for financial services training and development scheduled to be available from late 2010.
Please visit our regional site for more information on the NSAFS in the South West.
