Karl Hopper-Young MSc

Karl Hopper-Young is a Director of Sussex Independent Financial Advisers Ltd Chartered Financial Planners and brings 25 years experience in the financial services sector as well as extensive work in education, primarily financial services, and is the Chair of the National Skills Academy for Financial Services, South East Regional Employer Board.

Karl has led SOFA, IFP and LIA Regions as well as delivering extensive work as an external verifier and he also lectured at Brighton University in the Post Grad Diploma in Marketing.

Over the years Karl has worked closely with the CII as an examiner, on syllabus design and question setting, and with the IFS by supporting their courses at Colleges in the East Sussex area.

He is ISO22222 accredited and an ISO22222 assessor for the CII.

Karl’s financial services career developed from Home Service, through Broker Consultant, Training Manager and finally as a Senior Manager for a large Proprietary Insurance Group for nine years. He has been a Director of a directly authorised IFA for the last 13 years.

Karl provides advice and guidance on management and development issues to a wide range of clients, both in the public and private sector.

He has a detailed understanding of the needs of the industry and is acutely aware of the challenges that the financial services industry has ahead of it and is committed to working with the professional bodies in providing a clear solution for companies to attract and develop individuals thinking of joining the financial services industry and those within it.

Karl is a Chartered Marketer, Certified Financial Planner, Chartered Finance Planner, Chartered Manager, and a Fellow of the Institute of Consulting (part of the Chartered Management Institute).

Karl is also the chair of the Regional Employer Board for the South East.
