General information

Leeds City College is one of the largest further education colleges in the UK. It was established after the merger of Park Lane College Leeds & Keighley, Leeds Thomas Danby and Leeds College of Technology on 1 April 2009.

History

Leeds City College was awarded Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) status in 2002 becoming the first provider of financial services to achieve this status.

In 2008 it was awarded the Training Quality Standard in recognition of its responsiveness to employers’ training requirements.

The college prides itself on offering the widest choice of courses with the highest quality of teaching for over 60,000 learners.

Role in the Skills Academy

Leeds City College is the National Skills Academy for Financial Services lead training provider partner in Yorkshire and Humber. The College’s business school provides education, training and development to meet the needs of both the employee and employer.

While the main focus is on local and regional organisations, the school is also involved in national and international developments. To support this work key organisations are part of the advisory Business School Council. These organisations include:

The business school works with internal partners and the two Leeds universities to offer seamless lifelong learning from pre-entry level to MBA. Leeds City College meets with companies regularly and matches training programmes to the ever-changing trends of the industry, maintaining the college’s position at the cutting edge of new training to meet industry demands.
