Apprenticeships (Level 2) and Advanced Apprenticeships (Level 3) are an ideal programme if you're career minded, under 25 and want to learn while you work. The course combines paid work with time out of your job to gain new skills at an Academy Centre – perhaps on a day release scheme.

During the course you'll study different qualifications depending on your career pathway and you'll produce evidence to show you understand your employment rights and responsibilities. The qualifications you will achieve comprise:

  • A National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) which shows you are competent in your work and this will be assessed through a portfolio of evidence.
  • An appropriate technical certificate – to demonstrate your technical knowledge, which will be assessed by knowledge-based tests.
  • Key Skills in Application of Number and Communication – to provide wider skills that employers need. You will complete a portfolio of evidence and pass an examination.
The FSSC offers an Advanced Apprenticeship in Advising on Financial Products and an Apprenticeship and Advanced Apprenticeship in Retail Financial Services which includes pathways in Insurance, Investment Administration, Retail Banking and Long-Term Insurance.
