Tower Hamlets College is proud to have been chosen as the flagship centre in London for the newly launched National Skills Academy for Financial Services.

The National Skills Academy based at Tower Hamlets College will support employers in the City, Docklands and East London by providing a range of demand-led services to meet their training and recruitment needs.

This will be achieved by employers leading on the strategic development of the Skills

The new National Skills Academy will strongly support a key College priority – to help increase the number of local people recruited to financial services roles and help them progress to the highest professional levels.

Academy and designing a curriculum for young people and adults that will provide the skills sets, qualifications and experiences required to drive their business operations.

Before moving into specialist, state-of-the-art accommodation in East India Dock Road in late 2007, the Skills Academy will offer a discrete range of flexible programmes for young people and adults delivered either at the College or in the workplace. These will include regulatory qualifications for mortgage and financial advisers, financial literacy, accredited management and ICT programmes.

The National Skills Academy will become the leading body for the development and delivery of quality skills and education training in financial services in London and its initial priorities will be to build on the College’s excellent track record of working with employers to:

inform and enthuse local people to work in the sector
develop collaborative recruitment programmes
deliver training to meet workforce development needs
design and deliver new curriculum initiatives.
