Providers' accreditation
How can you be considered for delivering the Skill Academy’s curriculum?
Accreditation of Training Excellence for Providers gives recognition to providers that can demonstrate that their investment in training adds value to their clients' business.
Providers at the outset will not need to be FSSC accredited (approved) but must be going through the accreditation process and have submitted their completed self-audit submission to the FSSC.
The provider would be considered as operating within an 'FSSC accreditation interim status' subject to approval for the purposes of the Skills Academy.
If you've achieved the above you can approach the Skills Academy to deliver parts of its curriculum. Please visit the Expanding the provider network page for more information.
FE & HE Providers
The Financial Services Skills Council (FSSC) piloted a scheme to see if FE providers needed different industry standards of training excellence assessment from private providers.
The new scheme was planned to be launched by summer 2007. However, the majority of FE providers on the pilot showed that they meet the same FSSC industry standard as private providers, submitting different but valid evidence to demonstrate their vocational expertise in the financial services sector.
So, from end of July 2007 the FSSC Accreditation of Training Excellence for Provider scheme will be revised to include wider evidence requirements for all providers.
This will mean that training providers, whether private, FE or HE, can show evidence from:
- customised and/or bespoke training provisions for financial services employer clients; or
- customised and/or bespoke training provisions for non-financial services employer clients (any subject matter), as well as evidence that they undertake:
- delivery of qualifications within FSSC Appropriate Exams list; and/or
- relevant financial services-specific training within the FSSC Sector Skills Agreement (The Skills Bill).
This should widen the pool of providers who meet the eligibility criteria for the scheme.
The FSSC also recognises the LSC New Standard. So providers who undertake both the FSSC Accreditation scheme and the New Standard, and successfully achieve the New Standard Part A, will get exemptions for FSSC industry standards that map across to the New Standard.
This will lead to less evidence requirements and a reduction in external audit time and fees for providers.
Please visit the FSSC website www.fssc.org.uk/accreditation for further information on the improved scheme - available from end July 2007.
The FSSC will have an official re-launch of the FSSC Accreditation of Training Excellence for Provider scheme in early September 2007.
