What's on the curriculum?
The Skills Academy, in time, aims to offer a complete curriculum across the range of financial services training and education from 14–19 and new entrants to people returning to work and CPD for existing workers. However, initially, curriculum development is concentrating on 16–19 provision.
Nationally, across most major business sectors, a new curriculum is being developed through Diplomas (available 2009). In the interim a range of qualifications will be available for young people, as well as work-based learning such as apprenticeships.
New apprenticeships are being launched in retail financial services (incorporating insurance) and advising on financial products.
The Skills Academy will also help to develop new qualifications, working with employers from relevant sectors and to a much tighter timetable than is currently possible.
