The Skills Academy will have Regional Boards to oversee planning and operations in their area. These Regional Boards will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring implementation of the Skills Academy in their region
  • Reviewing the needs of the sector for their specific region
  • Providing feedback to ensure the Skills Academy is meeting regional and local needs
  • Working with the supply side to deliver improved skills and meet the current and future needs of employers (this will align with the Financial Services Skills Council Sector Skills Agreement)
  • Making recommendations to the National Board and Directors about:
    • regional priorities for education and training
    • future learner numbers and expansion of provision
    • new learning providers
    • monitoring performance in their region

To have a place on a regional board an employer must commit to sponsor the Skills Academy. In the initial stages of the Skills Academy set up, shadow regional boards have been formed. The employers on these shadow boards are providing valuable insights into priorities for each region and working with providers and stakeholders to move the Skills Academy forward. They will have to commit sponsorship to maintain their position on the regional board.
